Fried Green Tomatoes

brown sugar 1 tbsp
all-purpose flour 1 cup
medium green tomatoes, sliced 1/2 inch thick 4 to 6
egg, beaten 1
milk 1/4 cup
dry bread crumbs 1 cup
butter 3 tbsp
oil 1 tbsp


1. Combine sugar and flour; place on a shallow plate.
2. Dip both sides of each tomato slice into the mixture.
3. Combine the egg and milk.
4. Dip each tomato slice; then dip into the bread crumbs.
5. In a pan, heat butter and oil over medium-high. Fry tomatoes until brown on both sides.
